Matthew 5:1-12

1. The character of a disciple of Jesus

A disciple of Jesus is -

- poor in spirit
- mournful
- meek 
- hungry and thirsty for righteousness
- pure in heart
- peacemakers
- persecuted

2. The blessedness of a disciple of Jesus

A disciple of Jesus is blessed or favoured because -

- theirs is the kingdom of heaven
- they will be comforted
- they will inherit the earth
- they will be filled
- they will be shown mercy
- they will see God
- they will be called sons of God
- theirs is the kingdom of heaven
