The Sermon on the Mount (7)
Dr. Kenneth Brownell
Matthew 5:31-32(19:1-12)

Divorce considered biblically

- Divorce is a tragic departure from God’s original intention.
- Divorce is a concession, not a command.
- Divorce is permitted for two specific reasons.

Infidelity (Matt.5:32; 19:9)
Desertion (1 Cor.7:15)

Divorce considered pastorally

- Divorce is not desirable as far as God is concerned.
- Divorce is not inevitable as far as God is concerned.
- Divorce is not unforgivable as far as God is concerned.
