Romans 8: 12-13

Putting sin to death

Killing sins is the continuous destruction of sins in our lives by the Holy Spirit though faith in Jesus Christ so that we can live.

1. Why sin must be killed
   We must kill sin because –
   • we have an obligation not to the sinful nature but to the Spirit
   • if we don’t we will die but if we do we will live
2. How sin must be killed
   • By the Holy Spirit –
     • Abstain from sins in the power he gives.
     • Bring your sins into God’s presence and repent of them as he magnifies Jesus as your Saviour.
     • Cultivate godliness in your life both inwardly and outwardly.
