2 Thessalonians 1: 1-12

Christian suffering

1. The faithful suffering of Christians is evidence of God’s present grace (vv 3-4)
   • Paul is thankful for their faith
   • Paul is thankful for their love
   • Paul is thankful for their hope
2. The faithful suffering of Christians is evidence of God’s future judgement (vv 5-10)
   • When Jesus is revealed on the last day there will be retribution for those who don’t know God and have rejected the gospel
   • When Jesus is revealed on the last day there will be vindication for those who do know God and have accepted the gospel
3. What should our response be to all this?
   • Pray that God may count you worthy of his calling
   • Pray that God would fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith
   • Pray that the name of the Lord Jesus will be glorified in you and you in him
