Leadership

Elders
 
The church is led by elders elected by the church. Currently the elders are Kenneth Brownell (the minister or presiding elder), Yuriy Vyshnevs’kyy (assistant minister with particular responsibility for the Russian language congregation), Peter Smith, Paul Mortimer and Adekunle Adeoye. Paul Mortimer is the elders’ secretary and Bill Henderson is elder emeritus.

Kenneth Brownell, our minister, was born and brought up in the United States where he received his BA from Harvard University. In 1976 he came to study for a doctorate at St. Andrews University in Scotland. After teaching in American schools and colleges in London he attended the London Theological Seminary and worked at Cholmeley Evangelical Church in North London. In 1986 he was invited to become associate minister at ELT and became minister in 1989. In addition to his pastoral responsibilites he teaches church history at the London Theological Seminary, chairs the committee of the John Owen Centre, visits Burma and Thailand to lecture and preach and edits Foundations, the theological journal of Affinity. He is married to Alison, a hospital physician and has two children.
 
Deacons
 
The deacons assist the elders by supervising various practical aspects of Church life such as maintenance of the building, finance and social ministries. The current deacons are Colin George, George Rae (Treasurer), Andy Mossop and Kayode Adeoye.
 
Staff
 
The staff are people recognised and employed by the church for particular ministries. There are currently five full-time staff members: Kenneth Brownell (minister), Yuriy Vyshnevs’kyy (Russian language congregation minister), Carys Woodbridge (pastoral care coordinator), Andy Mossop (Youth and Community Worker). Henk van der Meer recently joined the church as a community evangelist.
