What We Believe

The following beliefs are those which we hold to as a Church, as well as individually:
  • We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that they are the only rule of faith and conduct.
  • We believe in one eternal, almighty, self-existent God in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that these Three are One.
  • We believe that through the sin of Adam, by which his nature was corrupted, the whole human family, having descended from him, inherited the same nature and became separated from God.
  • We believe that according to the good pleasure of the Father, a multitude which no man can number, out of every nation and people, are saved by grace, through faith in Christ and without merit on their part, from the corruption of sin, to good works and to eternal life.
  • We believe that the Son of God became Man in the Person of Jesus Christ, being born of a virgin, that he lived a sinless life, exercised a prophetic ministry, wrought many miraculous works, was crucified and buried, but rose from the dead and ascended back to the right hand of his Father, from where He will return personally in the last days in power and glory.
  • We believe that by his death, Jesus Christ offered a complete atonement as the Saviour of His people, that by His perfect obedience and His sufferings on behalf of others, He might pay in their place, the penalty their sins deserved, and in this way fully justify them and bring them to glory.
  • We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, that He gives new birth to the soul, enabling believers to exercise faith in Christ and, by His power, to overcome the sins of their fallen nature and to be made holy, and that He always bears witness to and glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that all those whom God the Father has chosen, the Son has redeemed and the Holy Spirit has brought to new birth and made holy, shall not finally fall away from God’s grace, but continue to the attainment of eternal life.
  • We believe that the Lord’s Supper was appointed by Christ to be observed by all believers, and the Lord’s Supper be observed in remembrance that Christ died for us on the cross, that it be received only by those who by grace are seeking to walk in fellowship with Christ.
  • We believe that all believers are members of the one body of Christ, that fellowship with God’s people in the local church for worship, witness and service is the Christian’s privilege and duty.
  • We believe that there will be a resurrection of the body, and life everlasting, of the righteous to eternal happiness, and of the wicked to everlasting punishment.
  • We believe that Baptism was appointed by Christ to be observed by all believers, that Baptism is for believers only, and should normally be administered by immersion, signifying death to the old life in the world and rising to new life in Christ Jesus.
